Scrappy Irish Chain Sew-Along

QB what a creative idea for your background block...love the bird and can’t wait to see how the eleven blocks come together in your quilt. Still waiting for my background fabric to arrive. I ordered 4 yards WOW (dots)...maybe I should share some with Irishrose2?

Someone mentioned an Arkansas Crossroads. Here is one I made the first or second year I was involved with the Birthday Swap Group. It was easy but not as fast as the Irish Chain.

I am about half finished with the Irish Chain and should finish today. This is such a quick pattern to make. It sure helps having all of those little squares from the Birthday Swap!
Love the clear bright colors MerkelFamily! If I was cutting from my stash, I would go that route but I am using just squares I already have from our Birthday Swap stash.
SBG I giggle at your comments about the number of squares you have. Me too! But my selection is getting smaller after this Sew-Along. Yeah!
Keep stitching everyone and watch the beauty emerge!

Oh what a lovely Arkansas Crossroads! I will surely be making one in the future! While I thought of joining the Birthday Candy Swap, I also know that I have a growing stash on-hand that I have no plans for so I'm happy to cut it up and go! There has been a bit of discussion about 'ugly fabric' on the QB lately and I have many bright prints that came from Craftsy/Bluprint in a few different FreeSpirit 1-yd Mystery packs (picked them up on deep discount). Some that I would call kinda-sorta-ugly but if I cut them up enough they will be beautiful, again, and perfect for another scrappy!
I'm not one that likes having a growing stash on-hand - it almost feels like a burden to me as though it all must be put to good use and not wasted by just sitting there. Funny how we're all different that way

I’m enjoying seeing all of the projects completed and started. Great motivation and inspiration you all give. I’m thinking of jumping in and being motivated to complete my star double Irish chain QAL, From quilting the past. It’s all cut out in different baggies. I made 2-4 blocks and decided to change my 2nd tan color. So with all of your encouragement I will restart this project. I will post some pics as I go.

Ladies for my bird background fabric I reserved 10" for the squares in the scrappy chain blocks. The other 26" went to making 11 bird backgrounds. I have some plain lavendar that matches the star fabric. I was thinking of using the rest of the star fabric and make 4 to 65 more birds and using the plain lavendar in the scrappy chain blocks. Here's a picture of the fabrics together. If I use the rest of the star fabric for the bird backgrounds then I could have a quilt that is 50x60.
