2018 Christmas Cookie Recipes
I'm beginning to plan for my annual holiday cookie baking and thought it would be nice to share our favorite tried-and-true recipes together here. I bake 30-40 dozen cookies and donate 5-10 dozen to our community holiday cookie sale then deliver the rest to family & friends. I like to make at least 6-8 different cookies. I have my favorites but am always looking for new, creative ideas - ironically, my family/friends are already asking for a few extras of their favorites and are wondering what will be new on the cookie platter this year! I need your help for some new ideas or even old favorites
I'll start by linking some of my go-to recipes that I've found online (easier to share those) and would love to hear what some of your favorites are!
Thanks in advance!

Oh yeah. It's that time of year again. I also bake plenty. I have made as many as 13 varieties. Two of my favorites are spritz and date bars. I have a very old recipe book from the Milwaukee, wi power company that had some fantastic recipes. They are now online but I have not checked it out yet

I love this recipe & it's easy to make. It's called Brickle Bars & can be frozen after making to store for a later time without any damage to the bar taste or texture.
BRICKLE BARS
(12) 4 3/4" X 2 1/2" Graham Crackers
3/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 1/2 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
Heat oven to 375 deg. Line a 10" x 15" baking sheet with foil. If pan does not have an upturned lip on it, leave enough foil so you can turn up the edges. Line the pan with the graham crackers. Melt the butter & add the brown sugar & boil for 1 minute (stirring constantly). Pour the butter/sugar over the graham crackers & spread evenly & bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven scatter chocolate chips over graham crackers & return to oven for 1 minute until chocolate is soft. Spread chocolate evenly over the crackers. Sprinkle pecans over chocolate & press pecans into chocolate slightly & cool for 30 minutes before cutting.

Thanks OSewMe for the trip down memory lane.
I'd forgotten about this one, as it was one my Aunt used to make for special times.
She used to add chopped maraschinos and coconut to the mix.
Actually I think it was more a matter of what bits and pieces were leftover from other recipes!
With your nudge, this one will be back in my repertoire!

I just made the dough for the fruitcake cookies, she wouldn't recognize the recipe, I used stuff on hand
As a lazy bum I didn't roll them either, but will spoon them onto the pan when they are chilled.
the dough tastes great, used dark rum rather than sherry. I'm not even sure what sherry is

Spritz & Brickle Bars are always made by my neighbors and exchanged - they sure are everyone's favorites!
Kalama - I, too, use whatever is on hand for fruitcakes.. the more ingredients the merrier!
Peanut butter blossoms are always a hit!
Mawluv - Hobnobs?? Now that's a new one to consider, thanks!
I don't believe I've ever met a cookie I didn't like

I know that my friend used to make sugar cookies with candied ginger and dipped in white chocolate. They took time but were so pretty and tasty.
I used to make a brown sugar cookie dough to make gingerbread men for those that don’t like ginger. It had the right color.
Chocolate Crinkles but can get messy with powdered sugar.
Not quite a cookie. The marshmallow goo died green and mixed with corn flakes to make wreaths and using red hot candy for the berries.

Osewme, I make almost the same recipe but use saltine crackers instead of graham crackers. We call it "Cracker Candy" and until I have a bunch of people to share it with, I won't be making any time soon. You simply can not eat only one piece!!!! Christine, Here is a link to the recipe if you want something a bit different, those salty saltines make it,
