Delicious Slow Cooker FRENCH DIP Sandwich Recipe
Since I'm either teaching sewing, writing articles about sewing, or sewing for myself, I have little time for cooking 3 nights a week so I'm always looking for different and delicious slow cooker recipes. My family LOVES this French Dip Sandwich recipe and it is better than any French Dip I've had at our locals pubs. It requires only 2 ingredients! Put it in the slow cooker and 6 hours later... enjoy!
You will need:
1 envelope of Lipton's Onion Soup Mix
1 can of Beef Broth condensed soup
1 Brisket beef
Italian or Kaiser Rolls
Your favorite cheese for beef (we use provolone)
Set up your crock pot and turn it on. Add the beef broth and the envelope soup mix into crock pot and stir. Place one tablespoon of butter and one tablespoon of olive oil in a pan on medium-high heat. Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper. Place meat in pan and cook until brown on all sides, about 5-8 minutes on each side.
Once all sides are brown add 3/4 cup of water. Be careful and stand back when adding the water because steam can come up in your face. With a fork move the meat around the water scrapping the brown bits of the bottom of the pan. This forms a delicious dip for your meal. Once all the scrapings are off the bottom of the pan, place the meat and the sauce you just created into the crock pot.
Cook in crock pot for about six hours. Take the meat out and break apart with two forks into bit size pieces. Remove any fat. Place juice in a bowl for dipping. Place meat in a Kaiser roll, top with cheese and a little bit of juice. Dip sandwich in bowl for extra juice and ENJOY your homemade French Dip sandwich!

I got this recipe from my neice about a year ago....I love it....its great to make for company. If you are going to have a crowd I'd up the liquid so you have enough Au Jus to go around.
A bottom round roast works well as well as the brisket....want to jazz it up, add some sliced mushrooms. Generally I don't use the onion soup mix, I saute raw onions and add a tsp. of beef base. Browning the meat and deglaze the pan a must for great flavor.
