Easy Apple Cake
A girlfriend gave me this easy recipe. Apples are in now. I made this last nite and took it to the church potluck today and it was gone! So I guess they liked it.

About 5 to 7 granny smith apples (or whatever you prefer), peeled, cored & thinly sliced
1 (9 ounce) package yellow cake mix
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 stick real butter
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Cut apple slices crosswise in half.
3. Place in pan; sprinkle with dry cake mix.
4. In small bowl, combine sugar & cinnamon; sprinkle over cake mix.
5. Drizzle with butter.
6. Bake 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown.

This sounds somewhat like peach cake my sons made in Boy Scouts. They put canned peaches in the bottom of one of those cast iron pots, added the cake mix and then the melted butter. It was covered and cooked over an open camp fire. My grandsons make it now in scouts.

Why does the recipe call for peeled apples and there is the peel still on the apple????? And for sure, what size pan - 13x9x2, or 8x8 (those are Minnesota sized cake pans.) Sounds absolutely delicious and I bet you could use pears, strawberries or blueberries too. And, Minnesota Haralson apples should be out pretty soon and they are the best pie apples you have ever tasted. Nice taste and hold together very well! Thanks in advance for the info. Edie
