Gee I can't help you but I thought when I first read your post that 1) You were looking for something to remove pits from dates, 2) You were looking for a date. Man I know it should have involved a sewing machine. A Riccar must be a fairly rare machine because I"ve never heard of it.

Good luck with that-I never found anywhere to date my 310b. The best guess I could make was based on color, which was two-tone mint green/pale green. Riccar does still exist as a company (http://riccar.com/) but all they make now is vacuums, I think. It still might be worth a call to them, see if they've got any info archived. I can't remember whether I did for mine or not.

I have looked up manuals from the site MrsBoats gave, but I don't think it has any information about years of manufacture. If you have the manual, does it give any clue, such as printing date of manual, etc. That might give you a estimate of the age. Good luck.

I had a Riccar 401E bought in 1974-75. Just lost it this past year. It was a real workhorse, and if I ever see another, will snap it up in a hurry. Why don't you post a photo. You might try a search of images for your Riccar. I see them sometimes on EBay, but not like the one I had.
