Free-motion quilting on Singer 31-15???
I'm trying to teach myself to free-motion quilt on my Singer 31-15, and it keeps skipping stitches when I "turn a curve." I've changed needles, thread, tension -- and I can't seem to get it to stop skipping stitches. Advice? Can anybody tell me what thread/needle combination they've used that works to free-motion quilt on a Singer 31-15? Thanks!

Go slower - with your hands - around the curves. Run the machine fast. YOU are controlling the stitches. Try a topstitching needle, probably a size 16. Are you wearing quilting gloves? You should, for better control. Practice makes perfect.

My Singer 31-15 skips stitches on curves when the needle clamp isn't adjusted properly. The needle clamp needs to be adjusted to an exact position or she skips. On mine, the screw on the clamp that holds the needle needs to be almost perfectly horizontal, or it will skip stitches on curves. I have learned this after much trial and error.
I have used Essential Pro Polyester Thread from Connecting Threads for several years without any problems.

Needle height will cause skips. I use a singer 31-15 for free motion quilting by the use of the P2 attachment by Janome, which is high shank and making it an open toe so needle does not strike it. Here is the link to video showing how well it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNUkMBT54lc this is a motorized machine
