I was thinking of getting a mangle the other day although I don't mind ironing, just hard to iron larger yardage on a ironing board even though it has been enlarged with a sheet of wood. Seen a mangle at the St. Vincent dePaul store.
Oh yea, also a Rockateer, had to walk away. Not easy, but small house.

My mom worked for a cleaners in the 50's in Chatham, Ontario.
I would go to piano lessons then walk to cleaners. She taught me how
the ladies used it. They use to press 200 white shirts a day with one but I never see one now. Never disliked ironing anyway.

I learned to iron on one of the old Mangle iron similar to this one only they were a lot bigger. I started out ironing pillowcases and worked my way up to sheets. In those days everything had to be ironed. I remember it took up half of her washroom. When it was in use it would heat up the entire house. I wish I had room for one now. What a dream it would be for ironing fabric.

I love the part that says she does the ironing to relax now. LOL not this girl....Ironing isn't one of my favorite things no matter which way but is just one of those things that you need to do quilting.but i can think of better ways to relax
