I need some info on my old Singer
I have a 1950's Singer that I have had for 30 yrs. I don't really know alot about it tho. I am asked what I have and I really don't have that answer. So If anyone can pin this down for me I would appreciate it.
It's been my workhorse for years now and I prefer it to any other.
What I really want to know is what kind of foot is on it. I have used nothing but this foot and when I write tutorials I don't really know how to refer to the foot and it's size.\
I don't know if it is a featherweight machine or one of the 15s etc. Any help would be appreciated.

This machine was sometimes referred to as the "Farmer's Wife's Friend" as I guess so many were bought and used to patch denim pants and overalls. As it is such a strong powerful machine it powered through that heavy stuff. I think a lot of them stitched feed sack clothes and quilts too!

Around here (rural farm country), I have ladies refer to their sewing machines as “It’s a Dress-maker’s Machine”, and when I see it, it’s usually a Singer 201-2, which was (I believe) an upgrade from the robust Singer 15-91 back in the day. Both of them had the “potted” direct-drive motor.
Of course, there are Japanese machines badged as a “Dressmaker” machine, but they’re not Singers. I always wonder which (Dress-maker’s or Dressmaker) machine that the ladies are talking about.
There were probably as many dresses made on a 15-91 as there were on a 201-2, because they’re both really good machines. It would be interesting to know how many dresses were made on Japanese Dressmaker machines too. Also good machines, and they’re still sewing.
