Oiling My Machines

Oiling My Machines
I have four vintage machines, 3 Singers and a Kenmore. From all my reading of this Forum, I have gathered that Tri-Flow Lubricant is the lubricant of choice for these machines. Is this the product to use in place of Singer All Purpose Machine Oil? And what about greasing the gears? What do I use in place of Singer lubricant? Tri-Flow Synthetic Grease?
The last time I lubricated my 401A, I did something wrong because it siezed up. With the use of a penetrating agent, I have been able to get everything free and working in proper order. I lubricated my 403A at the same time and did not have any problem. I don't know what went wrong. It is now time to lubricate the 401A (because I had to remove all the lubricant), by 403A (due to use), and my 301A (due to use). How do I avoid the the seizing problem?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

the 401s to freeze up - very common - dried oil in the races - the 403 and the 503 are not as complicated so do not share that problem. I use Triflow grease on gears - oil on the moving parts once they are free and clean. The singer oil has paraffin in it and sets up but not as bad as 3-in-one oil - Glenn uses clock oil - I have an old post about the differences: http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t160607.html it is very easy to search and find the information you are looking for - look above on the right - there is a space for search.
