Minerva is the name we've given to the Minnesota ~B~ we got a couple months ago.

She is up and running. Cleaned, oiled, the foot controller is rewired, and thanks to three forum members I have a total of 6 bobbins and 10 needles to use. The only thing she needs is a front slide plate and a new rubber piece on the friction drive wheel.
So, now what do I do with Minerva? I need a project suitable for a 100+ year old sewing machine.

Would that belt have been from an electrical conversion and you're going back to treadle or have replaced the belt for electric use? You've got me there. About all you could do to pretty her up more is to polish the wheel. Are we allowed to re-chrome parts? I wondered if they would fit if we did. Thank you for saving our old friends.

Because it is "obvious" that you have "popeye" arms and needed a realy big rubber band to help you to quit smoking.
That or lacking the proper "tire" for the bobbin winder, you must improvise someting using that large "O"/small belt.

greywuuf and JabezRose got it. Because this machine was originally a treadle there is no provision to drive the bobbin winder. So I just stick the belt on the hand wheel and it works really good.
Donnaquilts, I don't see any reason we couldn't re-plate the chrome parts. I wouldn't do it unless I was doing a complete restoration, but they are ours we can do what we want. Who cares what someone else says?
Cathy, You get first dibs after my wife when I croak.
