Old White Rotary Machine
#1
Hi, I am new to the forum, I was at goodwill today and found a white rotary machine in it's cabinet, for sale. It is a matte black finish, electric. The patent on the motor said October 25, 1927 and the model number was 41X61431 on the metal plate in the back. Seemed to be in great shape, wish i could figure out how to download photos from my phone!! Any info on this model, age, etc. Should I have bought her? Thanks!

There are some people who like the rotary White, especially as a treadle. I think the list mentioned on this website is one of the groups:

I prefer old Singer machines myself and pass on the rotary Whites I see at thrift shops.

I might have a chance at a White, and I am up for information about that.

Old Singers have more monetary value, they look nicer (to me, anyway!), and they tend to be lighter in weight. The White rotaries I have seen weigh an absolute ton. Also, it just seems to me as if the Singers were engineered with more precision.

Hi, I went back today and looked to see if the machine is still there..it is. You are right, it weighs a ton, compared to the vintage Singer 15 I have...not sure if it works, but the price is $12.99. Decisions, decisions!

If you have the space for it, and can load it for transport without breaking your back, I'd say it would certainly have more than $13 worth of entertainment value! I just don't have the muscles and space, so must be extremely selective in what I choose to bring home......
