Question about Elna Supermatic knee control bar
Are the knee control bars the same for all of the 50's and early 60s Elna Supermatic machines? I inherited my mother's tan colored machine, but when we emptied her house, the knee bar wasn't with all of the things we kept. Sadly, the foot control had been adapted to use with the cabinet, and I never thought to remove it before we sold the cabinet, so I have no way of using the machine. I have a chance to buy an older green machine at a great price (much less than what people are asking for just the knee bar,) but I want to know if the knee bars are all interchangeable. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not expert at this vintage stuff, but I would hazard a guess that if it fits easily into the slot/hole, it probably will work - no electronics to speak of? Hopefully a more knowledgeable person will chime in soon!
PS - I am speaking of the knee lift bar, maybe you meant an actual speed controller, if so, I'm not even in the same conversation!

I believe the speed control is the problem. All I can tell you is that the ones on my green ones will swap back and forth. I am missing the lower half of one, but I never use them at the same time, so I am oK. I've never looked for one.

My Babylock Ellegante had a knee control bar and I think my Juki 98Q had one too. Got them mixed up but found they both worked on the Babylock so maybe they're interchangeable. Couldn't hurt to check it out.

Thank you for your help. Since most sources want $70.00 or more for the part I want, I think I'll take a chance on buying the entire machine in the case for much, much less. Since my machine is older, I can always use it for parts if the need arises. Thanks again.
