Singer 285K
I just picked up a Singer 285K at the Salvation Army a couple of days ago. The case was very, very dirty but inside was clean. I plugged it in and the motor sounded great! It was priced at $15 and I also asked for my senior discount bringing the price down to $13.50. I brought it home, scrubbed it up, and my DH oiled it up. I made two pillowcases yesterday, and it sews like a champ! Doesn't seem to sew real slow though.
Other than just bragging, I am wondering if anyone can give me more information than I have found. I learned it was made in Kilbowie, Scotland between 1963 - 1965.

Well, I know nothing about them, but here is ISMACS page:

Just follow the numbers down to 285K and there's some info there.
