Singer 401 at Salvation Army Store in Stuart, FL
I stopped by the SA store today. They have a SInger 401 with one Cam for sale in a hideous white painted cabinet. The wheel goes up and down, the levers slide easily. They only asked $45.00 for it, and I was ready to take it, thinking attachments might be in one of the drawers which was painted shut. Then I noticed, it had no Pedal, and no power cord. It wasn't too banged up., I just didn't want the Cabinet, and the time it would take to locate a power cord and pedal. So if anyone is interested in it., its waiting for someone to take it home with them.

When we got our 401A from GW auctions it didn't come with any cams, no controller and no power cord. Within a week we had a new set of cords and controller from Sew-Classic and a batch of cams from the LSMG. Would have bought the cord set from him too but he didn't have one that fit.
Since this machine is in a cabinet it might have been set up with a knee controller. Did you look up underneath to see?
At any rate hopefully somebody will rescue the poor baby.

Sometimes it's hard to see the controller because it is tucked up against the side in a bracket that sort of covers it up a bit. Maybe if you point out all of the things that are "wrong" with the machine you could get it discounted.

GW has a habit of over pricing their 'treasuers' - I think Cathy is right - see if they will come down - those are good machines and can be made to work. I have posted a ton of info on here if you want to track it down.
