Singer Presser Foot Adapter
I'm in the process of designing and fabricating an adapter for my Singer 31-15 that would allow me to use any attachment that can fit onto the presser foot of a 31-15. For example, I found a zig-zag and button hole attachment for a Singer Lockstitch at an antiques store. These attachments fit neatly onto the presser foot but do not line up with the needle. Therefore I've designed a small linkage that articulates allowing for the attachment to be lined up and used as designed.
My questions:
Have I overlooked a device that already accomplishes this task?
If another device doesn't already exist, doesn't anyone else want/need one for their old Singer?

You might try victoriansweatshop.com. Not many there do industrials either, but several fabricate parts.

I think there is a certain compatability between low shank and high shank Singers. There is an YS Star buttonholer made for industrial machines. There are tutorials on how to adjust the presser foot bar on old cast iron straight stitchers (like 66s and 15s) and the buttonholer works as it should. I think the YS Star attachmetn is a basic high shank. Double check that you have low shank attachment sand not slant shank attachment, mixups are know to have happened. For Singer domestic versions; bottonholers in green boxes are low shank; maroon/pink are slant shank. Maybe other brands made these attachments for high shank models, I'm not sure. A swing arm zigzag machine is much easier to work compared to a zigzag attachment. The buttonholers are very good though.
