That is a beuatiful machine. Impossible to resist!
I can see why you couldn't pass that Jones machine up Nancy. It is very beautiful.
Nancy, That's a beautiful Jones! I'm sure you will find a place for it. For now, let it be your dining room table center piece.
Nice machine, Nancy! Just like the one I blogged about. It should sew really well.

What a beauty...no wonder you lost the battle and succumbed to adding another machine to your amazing collection.
Nancy;
The Jones is beautiful and I'd have fallen off the wagon in a heartbeat for that machine.

I'm glad you lost the battle with yourself Nancy. Your new Jones is a darling.

This is the first machine I have owned with a lever that seems to move the feed dogs to adjust stitch length! Interesting machine! Can you us about that lever next to the hand wheel?

I've done several.

To do them right requires a lot of work, but in my opinion the end results are worth it. Considering you can't just go out and buy new wooden case anymore. And the plastic ones are not really suitable for the heavier old machines.
And, no duct tape isn't original equipment.

so I have to tell ya'll a story- I was at an estate sale yesterday looking at an old kenmore in a cabinet. An older gentleman walked up to me and asked if I was getting it, and I told him he could certainly have it if he wanted. He laughed and told me that he still had the same sewing machine he used during the war, and that if I wanted something good I needed an 'old black singer'.
Turns out he was in the navy in WWII, and had two featherweights he always took out to sea. One he kept set up for patches, and the other was used by everyone who needed general darning or repairs. He said folks laughed at first when he walked up the gangplank with a little black case, but changed their tunes when they needed to repair something. He still has them. I told him to let me know if he ever stopped needing them, and he told me that he would 'always' need them.
oh, and I ended up with a kenmore 158.something in a pretty cherry cabinet for $5.
