What I did today...threaded the bobbin on my Free and Singer and sewed w/both of them!!! Had to adjust the tension on both but I think I got it finally. I do not have a belt for the Free yet so I was just turning the wheel by hand, everything moves so nicely on both of these. I am going to look at Billy's tutorial because the bobbin winder on the Free is gunky and barely moves. I am excited to try and actually sew something w/one of them now. BTW, the singer is a hand crank, my boys think it is great fun to do the cranking for me, lol.
Those shuttles can be hard to thread too.

I found a Singer 66 today! It really is in good condition and the lady wants $40.00 in the cabinet. Is that a good price? The serial number is AL67190. Thanks, K

Billy,
Is this one that could be converted to a treadle?

I just came across this featherweight posted today. Looks good to me and the price seems right. Just thought I'd share if anyone is interested.

I just picked up an old singer and don't know much about it yet. On the stitch length selecter it says Back Tack. I think it is a 66-16 according to the manual. Serial # is AJ418122. I know the feed dogs don't drop but it has a plate to put over them. It stitches good but I have to try free motion quilting on it If I learn how to post a picture I will get one up for you to see. I also have an old New Home I just received, like it but the needles are hard to find. shorter than the universals.

There are a fair number of industrial treadles out there, so if you're wanting one, keep looking and one will show up.
