You know the 237M was originally offered as a treadle in Italy I have one that my niece gave me this past weekend that I just gutted and serviced and I am going to use it in my treadle because I do not have a zig zag machine for it.
But I have the motor/foot pedal/light assembly and case just in case I want to put it back together.

I thought a Featherweight came with it, that's the picture she emailed me. :x
When I got to her house, she brings out a 99k.
I said to her, "That's NOT the machine you showed me in the picture!"
The cabinet is in very good condition. She wanted $100 for it....I wanted it bad.

I would love to have a 99 treadle. I have been thinking about "making" one . . . .

What I would like to know is why the bobbin became more popular over this method. In my opinion just putting a spool of thread in a can is a lot easier than fussing with a bobbin. Maybe the sewing machine industry will one day come up with a new machine that uses this technology again (time for technology to change once more and maybe it can be made in America once again).

I have a white featherweight. It was just repainted and looks brand new. We oiled it according to directions and it runs but it seems to be catching somewhere in the bobbin assembly and it won't bring up the thread and thus won't sew. Can you give me any idea what may be the problem??

I got the treadle cabinet, its currently holding my Singer 237 zig zag machine. Its a nice smooth treadle, it just needed a bit of oil. It won't fit the 99K, its for a full size head. I need to find some hinge pins for it, at sometime in the past they were removed. :([/quote]
Here's an update of my previous posting.
I have been sewing with my new treadle cabinet all evening, its a joy to sew with , no annoying clanking. :-D
I have a metal straight leg Singer treadle cabinet and it clanks. I've tried adjusting it and it doesn't help.
