You can solve this on your own and with manicmike's and QB's and Miriam's help. Keep your $120. :-)
Thanks Cecilia but if we were in Canada I'd be less keen to drive around in snow!
I also thought that about the Janome Dude. If a machine's skipping stitches, timing's about #10 in the list, not #1. Additionally something significant usually occurs prior to the timing going out (like, just trying to sew through six layers of thick leather and hearing a weird noise).
The 127 has an extra spring to cradle the bobbin (which my VS2 doesn't have) and it was a bit loose. When I saw how loose the bobbin was inside the shuttle, and how shiny it was it became prime suspect. I adjusted the spring so the shuttle sat a little tighter in the carrier but when the original bobbin was used, it all started working without skipping or oil.
Guess the lesson is that if you order new bobbins for your shuttle machine, check the length carefully: This one was significantly shorter than the original type (2-3mm).

    Australia has -excellent- chocolate.

    Also Max B hot chocolate.

    Also great coffee.

Sewing machines are more expensive there, and snow is rare; possibly the only two drawbacks!

    ;-)

The chocolate ruby2shoes gave me was caramel Lindt, which is Swiss, but there are (or were, I haven't seen them in a while) custom chocolatiers that have the most delicious home made chocolates. Just thinking about it makes me want to go get some. You just helped me decide what my relatives are getting for Christmas Cecilia

Manicmike.......HUGE pity I didn't know your love of handmade chocolates; there is a fabulous choclatier just 10 minutes drive from me in Yarra Glen. They make the most amazing chocolates but are very expensive. They have a huge selection catering for all tastes. Next time you're out this way it is well worth a visit...but do bring your life savings with you!
Sorry frudemoo, if there is ever a next time I'll buy a box with a second tier and label it as yours!!!!!
