I went back and checked all the feet I had for this machine, even stitched with them to make sure they worked. My shank is more than 1/2" tall also, more like the 1" tall but this is a 221 Singer machine. There's one foot I have no clue what it's for and I searched online and still don't know what it's for but I'll keep it just in case someday I do find out. I have 2 other machines, my Viking I use the most and the little Brother machine I put on the cutting table when I go to attach the binding onto the quilt. Keeps the weight from pulling out of the machine.

The half inch is the distance of the bottom of the foot it is flat (if hinged) and the screw hole, not the top of the foot.

According to https://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/f...ht_accessories the Featherweights would have come with
Underbraider (121547)
Adjustable Hemmer (35931)
Binder (121464)
Gatherer (121441)
Quilter (35932)
Hemmer (120855)
Cloth Guide & Screw (25527)
Ruffler (86642)
They have a page where you can look up the various accessory numbers at
https://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/simanco_accessories. Sometimes even with a magnifying glass the numbers on the feet are hard to read. If you can read the numbers on the attachment that you are unsure about and let us know, maybe we can help. Or better yet a picture.

There is a manual at https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/09...W221Manual.pdf and https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_mac...ght-manual.pdf which have instructions about the feet that would have come with the featherweight.

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf and on an ipad at Posting Pictures From an iPad

Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button. As shown at Standard Sewing Machine Co. Paragon

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.
https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...p-location.jpg

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of quilt block ID?

Another way to post pictures can be found at 2021/2022, 2.5” Birthday Swap
And how to use an ipad to post pictures can be found at Uploading photos and Posting Pictures From an iPad

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

Some additional notes -
The photos generally need to be reduced to less than 2MB in size. I have heard of people sending an email to themselves as it will ask if you want to reduce the size.

I have an android phone and when I tried to reply on Quilting Board while in mobile view None of the options for adding pictures was available. However, there is an option down at the bottom left of the page that is for Full Site when I tapped on "Full Site" It then looked like the way it looks on my lap top. So it would have the Red Reply and the Go Advanced options.

Thanks, OurWorkBench, went to the page to look up the foot and don't think I found it but then I doubt if I'll ever use it either. Just glad I now have a Featherweight again and it such great shape including the gold design along the bed of it. All metal, can't beat that compared to these newer machines made from plastic.

I'm really curious as to which foot you can't figure out what it is.
Did you find a number on the foot? If so what was it????
A picture would really help.

I have a 1948 FW and love to use it particularly when I travel but also at other times too. So simple and dependable. Hip, hip, hooray for you. Your kindness was repaid in a most unexpected blessing.

You can use any sewing machine oil on this machine. Also any low shank feet which are very common and easy to find. Personally, I'd go for vintage feet for this machine, and you can always find them on eBay and Etsy. Just don't get sucked into paying more because they are listed as being for a Featherweight - because all low shank feet are created equal whether they originally came with a 15-91 or any other low shank machine.

You can also use modern low shank feet, but keeping in mind that most of these sold in sets include feet intended for zigzag machines so wouldn't be useful to you. However, you CAN get a modern quarter inch foot for quilting.

The feet that originally came with the machine included: straight stitch foot, zipper foot, adjustable hemmer, rolled hemmer, binder, ruffler and gathering foot. If you're primarily a quilter, you wouldn't even use most of those. In addition, you can get clunky but interesting attachments such as a blind hemmer, zigzagger with decorative cams, buttonholer, and hemstitcher. These aren't really useful to most sewers, but there is a fun factor if you're into that kind of thing.

The gal that had this machine before me added a card showing the seam distances from the foot. Her 1/4" was way off but I measured the side of the foot and it came up at a slant 1/4" so that works for me perfectly. As to the foot I wasn't sure what it was, I think it's a adjustable hemmer which I'm sure I'll never use. I doubt I'll use any of the extra feet but it's nice to have them just the same.

Thank you all for your advice and suggestions. I was able to pick up a bottle of machine oil last week so I'm all set.
