Sorry Joe - didn't mean to step on your feelings again.
My experience is that my DH will use more force than I will and that can be fatal - If I need force I call him in and then hover and kick him out once the force bit is over - he's good natured about it and has enough other stuff to do... LOL.

Then there are guys that are totally useless. I once had a friend who's car just quit on him. He had it towed to the dealer to be fixed. Turned out it was a loose wire in plain sight that just needed plugged back in.

thanks for the information on the 301 tension. i just bought my 301a LBOW a coupla days ago and the tension is off plus the machine needs a deep cleaning because it is dirty and full of lint dust. i am refinshing the cabinet now and will then start on the machine. i know there should be some info on this board about cleaning 301's or similar machines. i will do a search when i am ready to start on the 301a.

There is a sticky at the top of the Vintage & Antique Sewing Machine page - Muv has a video about cleaning your machine. What she says applies. Link: http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...v-t167789.html
There is a lot of information on tensions on here as well. Link: http://www.quiltingboard.com/vintage...s-t170748.html There is a link to a really good repair manual with the best info I have seen there as well.

i also noticed on one of your posts that you replaced wires on one of your vintage machines. is there some info or tute on replacing the wires on this board? i have two 15-91's that need new wires. i would love to try my hand at replacing them.

you can buy the wires/cords at sew-classic for the 15-91 - my husband is the one who replaces wires - he is good with electrical stuff - I do more with the mechanical - I don't know of a tutorial off hand - I will look around
