The weird controls are for the stitch width and cam function. It's a nice model, and if the internal cleated belt is intact it's worth the time and effort to fix it up. It can take a bit of time if you need a new belt, but replacments turns up now and then. Some machcines only need a bit of oil and it's running fine again, others need quite a bit of oiling and cleaning too free up at all. Model 320 have even more weird controls, with the built in stitche patterns and sort of key board selection buttons on top. Make sure you use a Singer 206X13, it's absolutely a must or you will cause damage to the machine. There are new bobbin cases for these with a larger groove or indentation, allowing for regular 15x1 needles to be used.
