Default 98 yrs.young and going back to work!

Well it was a tough decision, but I decided to sell my Singer 29-4 to a friend who does leatherwork among many other talents that he has. I found the old girl on craigslist over in Mississippi about 5 mos. ago not in the best of shape. After restoration it was the centerpiece of my collection. Most people have never seen such a machine and just loved it. It was made in 1916 and 4000 were made in that production run. We came to terms, I got cash plus a 1940 Singer 66 in a cabinet, a 1950 Singer 128 and 2 Kenmore's from the early 50's. I am glad to see the old girl back to work and hope I can do so when I turn 98(lol). Attached are before restoration, after restoration and on the new job.

What a beauty!! It must have been bittersweet to part with this lovely machine, but how wonderful she will be a working woman again!

What a great machine and loving restoration. Look for my Eye Candy thread for another fantastic leather machine which you'll love.

That's about 10 hours of slowly removing years of flat black overspray paint with a hint of speckled white here and there.

Thank you so much for bringing that beauty back to life and then giving it work to do.

Beautiful machine. I doubt I would have parted with it.

Great work. I'd had tears to part with that. My 29K58 looked much like your 29- when I acquired it. Slowly it is looking much better. I was amazed at how much grim can accumulate and how much original is under there. However, the decals have taken a beating. I will re-decal when time comes. Did you paint, polish, stove-black or what to get such a nice clean, black machine?

Good grief, I used to own one just like that! I owned and operated a boot and leather shop. I used that old girl everyday. Thanks for posting the pictures.
