    My husband's uncle always described anything that ran smoothly as "It runs like a Singer sewing machine." Have to admit I have heard that from numerous people in my life.

    Most of the time they are referring to how smooth it runs, I have heard this in the old car hobby all of my life and that is what most are referring to.
