Looks like it is going to be a great machhine. I redid my machine that the DH got me for my birthday a few years ago and was really pleased with the way it came out. Looking forward to see how you get on with yours.

    Jillaine,
Don't use any harsh chemicals when you clean up your machine, nothing with ammonia or alcohol as it will either remove your decals or silver them. I mainly use sewing machine oil and an old tee shirt and lots of Q-tips, be gentle. Evaporust or vinegar will help with rusty parts. www.treadleon.net has lots of good information on cleaning the old machines.
I have a 1910 Red Eye treadle machine that looks just like yours. I love using mine; I made swap blocks with mine for a Treadle On block exchange.

Jillaine, you can get back clamping attachments online from several sources. If you watch shopgoodwill.com, they frequently have boxes of machine attachments that include back clamping. I have a 66-1 with back clamping, and I have found several feet that didn't come with the machine when I bought it.

Also, after cleaning the bright metal, put some car finish on them, and they won't re-rust.

I will watch this thread. I have done a couple but it is so fun to watch the transformation and see what enjoyment the owner gets out of doing it.

Add me to the watchers. I have one I need to tackle - right after we replace the living room flooring...

Thanks for all the many suggestions. Life got in the way and I haven't had a chance to try these suggestions yet. I'm going to try to get to the hardware store again today and see if I can find some of the products mentioned. DH wasn't able to get it to budge either. I'm out of town all next week, and then the holiday travel follows shortly after, so I may not make much more progress until the new year. -- Jillaine

Went to our local hardware store and managed to find most of Billy's shopping list, plus a few extra things you all and others have mentioned. Could not find any Liquid Gold that pours, though; only the spray kind. I'll keep looking. Now to try Liquid Wrench on that darn wheel. (BTW, I spent twice as much on cleaning supplies as I did on the machine!)

That just means you have plenty on hand for all the other machines that will follow you home.
