Very nice. I had a Kenmore about 20 years ago and it did nothing but give me problems. I am so glad to know yours is working fine. I do like it even the color.

Oh, my. I love the color of that machine. I am fond of the older Kenmores but my first love is the older Singers. They did have the great color combinations but the decals on these older black beauties are gorgeous.

That's a beauty! I love the color. I can certainly see what you couldn't pass on it.

I think of a few of us could stand to pare down our collections. I just worked up a few that will be moving forward. I'm not in a hurry, but I want to see the hoard whittled down some this year.

my collection has been whittled and I haven't been buying much - all good. Doesn't mean I don't have some cool stuff around though.

KRA,

Beautiful machine, I like it.

What is the complete model number?

I'd leave the decal .... I know I'm weird.

Hey, Joe -- the complete model number is 158.470. Seems too short, doesn't it? The decal is going to be chipped off as soon as I get so I just can't stand it anymore!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Kenmores usually aren't the most stylish machines but I think this one and the very similar 48 are exceptional.

You know I might leave that decal if it is in good shape. It looks kind of cool.

Was it in this pristine condition when you bought it, or have you "spiffed" it up a bit, or even more than a bit?

I cleaned the exterior and some of the interior but it was close to the condition you see in the pictures. Some dust, a little oil varnish, but the clear coat's in excellent condition.

I used a new-to-me product this time: Maas metal polish. I think the chrome turned out really well.
