Another Kenmore: Model 47
It's nothing exotic but I like it. I couldn't resist it at the price, either.

It's very similar to the 48. I just need to get the decal off the nose (they glued it on -- glue drips have been pried off) but it sews like there's no tomorrow.
Now I have to sell one.

It's a nice one, definitely. Heavy duty, certainly!
I actually passed on this exact model last year but it was about twice the price and in far worse shape. I had occasionally regretted the decision but these machines have a way of finding us, don't they? I'll never be the collector Steve is but my dabbling has been fun. I'm in the process of selling some of them off and that's been fun, too.

You've been talking about paring down and refining your collection for a while now. It's good that you're enjoying the process. I think you'll be happier and your collection will be better for it. Quality is better than quantity to me. I'd rather see one great machine than ten average ones. Steve is a hard act to follow. I'm not even going to try. While his collection has some truly beautiful and great machines, modern machines have their merits too. Kenmore has had some truly interesting and unique designs over the years. Your avatar is a great example of that.
