That's definitely not a 201; in the photo you can see a shiny circle to the left of the bottom of the handwheel, on the right side of the pillar, where the stitch length indicator plate would normally be.

Miriam,
The 101 has the rectangularthroat plate,
This is the only picture I can find of a 103 http://www.ismacs.net/singer_sewing_...-199/103k2.jpg
And it is hard to tell from there. The guy never called me back last night so I have yet to see it, but I spoke to him on the phone, it is reportedly a "german" machine, he went as far to say prussian, but with out seeing the serial numbers I won't know. Maybe tonight I can go look.

I never made it today - the GKs showed up... maybe in a week or two after I get back from Ray White's class - I have a whole bunch of potted motor machines - I'm thinking one has black nose plate. Most are Singer 15s.

There is a discussion going on right now on the Vintage Singer Yahoo group about a very similar, if not exactly the same model. Someone there suggested that it is a 1300, among other things. The topic is "Sewing machine identification..." I know we have others here who belong to that group...check it out.
