the Foot pedal (literally) is broken. The mechanism has clearly been repaired and had a portion re-fabricated in the past.

The good news is that the foot is completely devoid of paint so I can bead-blast it and braze it back together SOLID.

The flat bar sticking out to the right on the foot seems out of place. Is that an old repair or original? If it is a repair, are you keeping it or trying to get closer to original? I'm just curious, both options have their good and bad points. On my woodworking machines if a repair is well done I tend to keep it as part of the history. If it's a hack job, I try to fix it.

100% correct on that! It is the repair. it was done POORLY. I am researching what it SHOULD have looked like now.

I will also need to bring the drive wheel and main bolt into work and determine the correct shim stock needed to take up the wobble due to wear.

Great job! I must admit I gasped when I saw the first photo. And who is the adorable little poochy that seems to be saying, I'd rather be going for a walk in the park than watch papa put together another machine!
