Default Before I do something really dumb.....

I know that canned air is meant for mostly plastic things like keyboards and other household items....but can I use it on my cast iron machine? I don't want to mess anything up, this is a great 1940 Singer that is my go-to, workhorse machine for everything that I do!

I need to clean out the bobbin casing area of lint.....

    Thanks!

As long as there’s a way for the debris to get out of the machine, I use compressed air on mine. Make sure that you take enough things off/apart that the debris can exit and not just pack into a corner.

I put a knee high stocking on the end of my vacuum attachment secured by a very tight rubber band and have at it. I have a dental mirror (tiny) and a pencil magnet to get any thing the vacuum can't. You can get the pencil magnets at any hardware store. I also use a magnifying glass. And another thing. Needle threaders and the dental magnets work very well together.

Dollyo, I am also the proud parent of an American Airman! But alas, with a horde of dogs, we converted the house to hardwood laminate and gave away the vacuums, so I have to use the canned air. Thanks, everybody, for your input. I'll be careful to get all of the lint out!
