Default Behold the most difficult part I've Ever had to Get: Bernina

I literally searched the world for this part for my Bernina 930. I could not find it ANYWHERE. Thank you Blessed_Beon for your help. She was able to help me to find a source...so: here is the rarest part in the World (OK, ....I'm a little dramatic but thrilled!!!)

They are out of production so there is no chance for replacement from Bernina...

Ya know, If folks are missing sheetmetal or stamped metal parts and cannot locate them, I do have the ability to produce most things like that. Just offering..

The Bernina factory flooded several years ago and lost a lot of the machinery (to make parts) and parts. they did not retool to make the parts for the older machines. So it is a search to find anyone who may have that part, since there are no more being made they can't order from Bernina.

How did you come to realize that your Feed Dogs were worn out? I'm really interested in your response.

When I purchased the machine, several parts were missing. I have had to find the individual parts through numerous sources including begging to get the parts I needed. The machine that I got was butchered by two machine shops and the owner of the machine had given up on repair. So...they put it up on CL and I grabbed it for a song. Then, I was singing the blues because the deeper I went into it the more was missing. Small things like the metal contacts to the microswitches fell out of the machine and had to be carefully repositioned on the board. The bobbin had to be replaced. The springs had to be repositioned. The on off switch was missing critical parts...but: I almost have it done. I'll post it when I can.

I had to manufacture nuts to fit the bottom of the machine...now like new.

I purchased the parts list, and service manual...yes they are out there...which has helped me to locate parts and readjust the machine. Some Bernina dealers are quite resentful that I have these, especially when I tell them I just want the part. "You know you'll have to pay retail" I am told...but they do order them for me...I think they are fearful of Bernina Corp itself, but, let me tell you they are not happy.

As for the part: the bernina company no longer makes it and so it is limited to finding what's out there. It has discouraged me from buying any more Bernina's for restoration but I'll likely change my mind.

    Congrats!!!
Great, now please tell us where you were lucky enough to fin this part? I too have a 930 and literally love it, next to my FW's that is. I would love to have a schematic and parts list for my 930. Where did you find that, please let us know, and any other info you can give for this lovely girl. Years ago I ordered and purchased the cover to give me a single hole for sewing , from a Bernina Dealer in Lubbock Tx., but didn't try it right after I rec.'d it and when I did, it would not fit my Bernina. I couldn't return it, and I live about 5 hours from Lubbock, so needless to say I seldom ever go to that area and haven't purchased this part again. I still have it, new and never used, but cannot understand why it doesn't fit. When I looked online at the parts on the Bernina site, this was the part number it gave, but I was out about $30.00 and have a worthless to me piece of metal, it isn't just the feed dog cover, as I had to purchase the entire piece that snaps on and off that covers the feed dogs.
As I stated before I would love to have the parts list, so I can order anything if I need to. I don't think the Bernina site is always the best source as was in my case. Thanks for any info you can give.
