Default Bernina Record 830 - problems with removable sewing bed

I am having problems with my old Bernina 830's remvoveable sewing bed. The interior cut out is worn down and it won't stay in place and keeps slipping. There appears to be a felt-like substance that had been around the inside but it is all gone. A techy told me that it was originally "horse hair"?

Any advice on how to repair or fix would be appreciated. I have to prop it up underneath with a small box to hold it level and in place with the machine's bed.
    Thanks!

No, I think he was pulling your leg. The 830 is old, but not that old. Try some felt, or even some polar fleece if you have it.

When he said it, I thought that he must have been "smoking" in the back work room"!

Would the felt with adhesive on the back work? I have bought it for going on the bottom of a lamp. If you can't find that, maybe the felt sticky things that go on the bottom of furniture would work.

JoAnn fabrics has adhesive backed felt. They also have lots of real wool felt you can cut to fit and glue on as you need.

Thanks for the advice!! Is there a particular type of glue that would work the best?

It is fuzzy, but horse hair? I don't think so, but I wonder where that came from. I'd laugh if he were right:> Be careful that whatever adhesive you use is somewhat gentle on the paint.

You might also try contacting Bernina via their website. You never know if they might help.
