I think I have decided to send it up to Scotland to my sewing machine supplier for a complete service. It will cost over a £100 but in the end I think it is worth it. I have spoken to a couple of sewing machine specialists and in their opinion this was a very special machine designed by Bernina and worth every penny I throw at it. Now all I have to do is find the pennies!

I would agree - good idea - I ruined an Elna working on it myself. If you would like to learn the repairs, buy a beat up old black Singer machine and see if you can fix it.

I have "repaired" a number of machines for my ladies but all they really needed was a good clean and oiling and I so love this machine I would hate to ruin it.
