I took my Redeye apart today and this is the piece I was wondering about on the tensioner.
    Thanks for any info.
    Sue

The end piece on the right is a screwdriver

Susan are you asking about the little tit on the end of the tensioner that can push in if you push on it? If that is what your asking about, yes it is. That is the pin that when you lift the presserfoot bar it automatically disengages the tension assembly. Be very careful not to loos this pin!!!! It will come out and you need to take it out to clean it but just remember to put it back in before you put the tensioner together again.

Hmmm... not sure which end you are referring to. I mean on the right- how that thing just sticks up. I thought it was supposed to be a loop like modern machines but I did some research and they all seem to look like that.
I have it the whole piece soaking now.
