Bobbin winder rubbing problem

Bobbin winder rubbing problem
I am working on a Singer 15k and having a problem with the bobbin winder. Without a bobbin in place it winds very freely on the large chrome handwheel. When I seat a bobbin for winding the silver foot that rides inside the bobbin is rubbing on the right side edge. It causes drag and on a plastic bobbin it scrapes bits of plastic off. Is there some place where I can adjust this?

I had that feeling. I'll have a go at it once my daughter picks up the baby. We don't want him getting the ideas we generally have a go at sewing machines with the BIG tools.

I run into one every once in a while. They get bent somehow. I take them completely apart, check the springs, clean everything and put it back together. If it still won’t handle a bobbin well, I decide where the bad bend is, disassemble it again, and tweak that one part with the big tools. Not fun.

all my husband did was file it slightly so it would fit. My husband measured the part, and the one on my Silver (1932 15-91) was actually just a hair wider than the one from my newer 15-91's (have several of them). And since I was using the Silver to wind bobbins for my Bailey, I needed it to work with newer bobbins. It worked fine with the ones it came with . . .
I've been using it to wind bobbins (and I wind a lot for the quilting machine) with absolutely no problems since.
BTW - this machine came "serviced" and ready to work. My DH did take about the winder and look it over, and measured it compared to our other ones, and decided that was the easiest, quickest way to make it work.

Cathy, I thought about doing that but it's probably good I didn't. I removed it several times trying to tweak it and finally got frustrated and gave it a wrenching while on the machine. It looked good with the foot riding centered but then the bobbin kept slipping a hair to the left and coming off the little groove it fits to. Grrr. I tweaked it more and got that to stop but I still need to play with it today.
The light was getting poor last night night and my attitude poorer.

I only would "fix-it" if an original bobbin for that machine did not work
would never wind a bobbin for any other machine on my 301A ( have a SideWinder for misc. bobbin winding)
full disclosure:
received my 301A new 57 years ago and we sew together every day.....it is pure luv
