I would keep it just to look at, it is beautiful! I can see why you regretted letting it go.

It is a very pretty machine. I read lots of the posts on here, look at lots of the pics, and am in awe at all of the collective knowledge there is about vintage machines.
    Regards,

Did you have to take another road trip or did it just appear. Glad it is home with you.

Interesting assumption in that book: "As this machine is in extensive use, it will be unnecessary to go into details of its construction. All mechanics know it, and will readily understand the references to parts used here."

Guess they didn't anticipate people in 2015 trying to figure out how to fix it! They built better than they realized.

Nice that you were able to get it back in a win-win situation. Those are best!

It's interesting in that a lot of what it does sounds like how a serge works - with the lower arm with the hole in it for the thread and how it loops and intertwines with the upper thread.

I have one machine that I'm nostalgic about, and sort of miss it - however it really did not fit my collection and I only bought it because it was neat and cheap! That one is the Davis low arm. Not that I'd want it back, but it was just such a neat machine!

Such a pretty machine and cabinet! Glad the two of you were able to make a deal so that both are happy!
