Default Bought it, sold it, traded to get it back - 1967 Grover & Baker MOP

I am really happy today. The prettiest sewing machine that I have ever owned is now back in the collection.

I sold this to a fellow QB'r in the process of acquiring the other G&B that I sold while on my honeymoon, wheew..... but I always regretted selling it. It really is the most beuatiful sewing machine I have ever been in the presence of.

This weekend I let my friend know that my Pfaff Convertable (treadle AND Handcrank) was going on the block. She has had a thing for that machine since I got it, so it was not surprising that she made an offer, but that she offered the G&B back was WOO HOO! Both of us are VERY happy with the deal. The very best kind.

THIS is why I changed my Avatar back...

Wow... it is beautiful! And the cabinet looks pristine. No wonder you are so happy... but didn't you mean "1867"? Love it's serpentine shape!

I know you sold the other one to a museum but I though you always had this one in your possession.
    Congrats on getting it back!
    Funny how things work sometimes.

Bestill my heart! That is a beUtiful machine and so glad it in now back in your stable. The machine shines and the cabinet is so gorgeous. Do you ever sew with it ..... before or now?

Still working on getting it to sew consistently. it can make a stitch or two every now and then but its not doing it reliably. we are pretty sure the problem is based on thread thicknes. this machine is pretty specific that the lower thread needs to be significantly thinner than the upper thread. By the way this is a doublechain stitch machine that uses a spool of thread on top and bottom. All of the shiny parts are actually silver plated.

It's certainly obvious why you love this machine. It's gorgeous! Isn't it nice when everyone gets a good deal?

How did you ever figure out that it took different threads in the top and bottom? And excellent work on getting that far, that idea never crossed my mind!

I'm so glad you have it back. I did the same with a machine - the parting with it part - that I loved and have regretted it ever since. I get the machine back when my cousin passes which I hope is not soon at all!
