Brother Boutique 751

Brother Boutique 751
A friend has the above machine that she would like to restore and give to her granddaughter. I have been searching online for a manual for the machine and have found nothing. Also, after reading about other older Brother machines I am wondering if it is really worth fixing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was hoping Cari (resident Brother go-to person) would know something about this particular model. Maybe she just hasn't visited since you posted.
It looks very similar to a 761 and manuals for the domestic 761 can be found at:

I've never ordered from any of them, but I know the last one would be the choice of many on this forum.

I also wonder where and what you've been reading about old Brother machines. My herd has its hackles up lol. Seriously though, I believe the Boutique machines are from the 70s and may have a dreaded plastic gear in them. I don't have one so can't be 100% positive. Haven't seen Tom here or on VSS for a while, he knows this era of Brother machines better than I do. I'm more knowledgeable of the 50s and 60s machines. Eventually I'll get a few 70s and 80s machines so I can get acquainted with them better.
