I have several treadle heads and no cabinets. I may have to convert them to hand cranks, but I still have to build the boxes. That kind of stuff was a lot easier on the body 30 years ago. Would love to find some treadle cabinets that are usable.

OOOOOOMG I would have been dancing in the parking lot. I love the New Home machine and cabinet - legs or not. She has been on my Gotta Get list for years.

What a lucky find. Those machines look to be in very good condition, compared to a lot you find, all rusted out and missing everything.

This may not be in line with what true antiquers know and do, but I think a creative crafter or cabinetmaker could make a beautiful piece by adding a wood base or legs. Those cabinets are gorgeous! Great find!!

I just can't imagine anyone cutting off the legs to those beautiful cabinets. Are they nuts or something ?

That would be my forum acceptable diagnosis. I can't post what I really feel about them.

I have three treadle heads with no cabinets. I've searched and searched in the central IL area and have found none.
I don't need any cabinets with heads, but three without. Found a couple on GW here and there, but that's way to far to drive.
When I read this post it made me sick to my stomach. Still does. I hope the OP can get them put back together with irons. But then he'll not be able to sell them, you never know what the buyers are gonna do to them. Unless they are Amish.

That's the problem. Right now no one sees value in old sewing machines as old sewing machines. They see raw materials for plant stands, knick knack drawers, and those gawd awful tractors. Eventually the fad will pass but a lot of otherwise very nice machines and stands are going to be destroyed along the way.
I don't have anything against people repurposing things that are too far gone to save. I've done it myself. But I don't tear up perfectly good things to make something else that in the case of treadle machines is usually far inferior to the original.

Not to intentionally hi-jack your post here, singerguy, but if any of you readers have a hand crank you would like to sell, please PM me--just the hand crank that you ordered and didn't use, not the sewing machine.....
