    Test machines never hurt. That said, I've never had a parts machine out of a black cast iron Singer. I do have a parts featherweight now, since summer - that ruined my score card a little - but at least I bought it as parts.

    I do have a couple old black machines for parts. They came already missing parts or one somebody ruined some how. Igor is really out there somewhere. Some times I thought one was parts but got it going and it turned out to be one of the best sewing machines. You never know.
