I have that (the first one pictured) pinking attachment and find it works very well on my Singer 201. You can run a lot of yardage through it and it's also good if you have ravely fabric you are about to put in the washing machine. The ingenuity of those Singer engineers was amazing. Wish we had them around now!

I have this one that goes on the machine and one that is stand-alone like the second one pictured. When I got them they both came with the zigzag blade. I tried to find one of the straight blades but could only find them on ebay for a high price. I googled to see if a company was making them to fit this and found a woman who said she bought the ones at JoAnn's for the newer machine. Unfortunately, the woman said you need to enlarge the main hole a little bit to get it to fit the older models. I did that and it's works just fine. You have to be careful not to enlarge the hole too much. She suggested using the dremel-type tools to do this.

I in fact have two of the Singer pinkers! Singer made then in the 1930's. They are fun to use. It will work on any short shank attachment machine, which is one of the best things about it. It goes on the machine to the left of the needle and hooks on the presser foot bar, with the little arm over the needle screw. Does this make sense? I unthread the machine and also take the bobbin out as you don't use thread at all when using the pinker.
The pinking wheel presses against a solid steel wheel and cuts the fabric OR PAPER with pressure, NOT sharpness. So it will not dull the blade when using on paper. Just make it go. ENJOY!!!!
Here's where April has information on the pinker attachment.

Is the blade for the newer machine at Joann's sharp? If so, I'd think that it could make a grove in the metal wheel that it presses against. Neither the straight cutting wheel nor the pinking wheel to the pinker are sharp. If so, I'd think that it could make a grove in the metal wheel that it presses against. Neither the straight cutting wheel nor the pinking wheel to the pinker are sharp.
