Default Changing machines in Singer Cabinets

I recently bought a pristine 15-91 at auction. I didn't see it in person until I went to pick it up as previews were over when I found the post. It's in a mahogany cabinet, which I was hoping was either oak or maple.

Long story short, I have a 600 in a cabinet I like for this. I don't plan to keep the 600, so thought to change out the cabinets. The hole seems to be the same. The one the 15-91 is in is a Singer #56. The one the 600 is in is very similar, but I was not able to find a drawing of it. The difference is that the 15-91 has that metal insert on the right side (where the cords go through) that is screwed in, where the 600 does not.

Has anyone done this and can offer any advice?

I have added a lift assist hinge (at least that's what I call it) to a table with a 16" opening so a 14" base machine could go into it. Three screws i think on the hinge, it worked OK when i was finished.
