To all Colorado Vintage Sewing Machine people
We are meeting on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at 10AM at the Village Inn at I-25 and Colorado Blvd. They said they would accommodate us with space for about eight(8), although they don't take reservations, per se.
From northbound I-25, exit to northbound Colorado and remain to the right. You'll come to Mexico Ave. in 1/2 block. Turn right (east) on Mexico and turn right into the first parking entrance. Drive straight across the lot, to the south, headed back toward the highway. The Village Inn is on the south end of the parking lot, a little hidden. The most visible landmark is Best Buy. If you see a Best Buy, you're in the right parking lot. Village Inn is katty-corner across the lot.
For southbound I-25 drivers, exit Colorado Blvd. northbound. Get to the right as you cross over the highway and pickup the northbound directions above with Mexico Ave.
Whether we've seen you before or you are a newcomer, any and all are welcome.
See you there!
John & Janey

February 2016 Meeting Notes
We met as scheduled at a Village Inn in Denver. Attendees came from various parts of the state. Two from Denver, two from south of Denver and one from north of Denver.
Courtney brought a hand-crank for Featherweight use that he is developing for Ila. (pronounced ee-la, by the way). He's manufacturing it from wood and other common parts. Courtney also brought a Featherweight 222. I had never actually seen one. A lot of envy going on.
Ila is working on the painting of a Featherweight and brought the bed extension from it, painted with a very interesting hammertone finish, dark gray I'd call it. Also, Ila is working with decals and had put new decals on the bed piece that she brought. I suggested that decal application might make an interesting thread for her to write.
Ila and Janey swapped Featherweights, each liking the one that the other one had. Now both are happy. Janey brought a piece of the Weed tabletop that she's working on refinishing to show everyone.
Diane was able to make it this time and brought an antique New Home, estimated to be 1880ish. It was a really neat little machine. A lock stitch, not a chain stitch, with a very cute shuttle and bobbin.
It was a fun and interesting meeting. We also talked a bit about where we can meet in the future, one possibility is Joann's, where they have an actual classroom for working on and with sewing machines. We could meet for breakfast beforehand. We'll look into it.
Looking forward to our next meeting. We'd always welcome newcomers.
All for now,
John

I didn't realize the PNW posts were moved. That's odd!
As usual, I completely forgot to take pictures.
Also, Courtney brought some fun wooden pressing sticks (instead of using a finger to press seams) that he made out of drumsticks. We each got to take one home.
I believe next month's meeting is on March 12.

Thanks Ila, for remembering Courtney's wooden pressing sticks. Also Courtney brought Dave McCallum's Featherweight discs and manual to lend to Janey. A lot happened and it's hard to remember everything here. Courtney did a lot this meeting and we don't want anything to be forgotten or seem unappreciated.
