Crazy Viking 6370
I consider my 6370 vintage not sure if others do. I took it on an outing and let it teach my adult daughter to sew and quilt. When we had stepped away from our machines, it went on a rampage and sewed very fast without an operator. We quickly unplugged it but we can tell by the smell that there is damage. After an overnight rest it no longer sews alone but continues to stink. Not sure about spending the money to take it in to be repair just to sit around.

Not familiar with your machine, but I had a Singer 301 that began sewing by itself and it was a problem with the foot pedal. Replaced the foot pedal and the machine was fine.
Is it the foot pedal that stinks or the machine motor? Hope you get it figured out.

My 6340 Viking smoked last year when I cleaned it. Had been sitting many years. It was a capisiter (spelling) or something like that. I traded her in last month for the Viking Epic. Good trade!! I loved my old Viking when it was new..,many years of sewing with no problems. Hope the new on lasts half as long!

If the repair is too expensive, ask around. If it is he machine, there are other SMMs who can do the work for parts and labor. It is hard to get an estimate anymore because they spend a lot of time diagnosing and then the customer backs out of the repair and the SMM loses his time. I have a guy who will fix anything, if you find the part for him. He is retired and only charges $45 for a tune up too. He is quite reasonable, but he is in Giles Co. TN.
New controllers, the solid state kind, have circuit boards and no old ceramic
capacitors that heat up. Check out Sew-Classic.com.
