Tough crowd.
Of course she was talking about sewing clothes, as anyone who read the article would conclude. I didn't see that she was selling anything in that article, unless she is now a shill for Singer.

I have been quilting for many years and consider it an art form and something I love to do...
Just like so many on this board I give sewing machines to my children and grand children, nothing new in that either.
Martha is basically a salesman who sells her name to products just like so many more celebrities do.

This brings up a point I've been concerned about for awhile, and I hope this doesn't open a can of worms. I don't quilt or do much fabricating. I do mostly mending and some remakes using the original as a pattern, but my primary interest is machines. This is a quilting board. I came here as an admirer of vintage sewing machines. This group has helped me develop this interest, but I don't quilt. Am I a usurper on a quilting board?
I don't quilt nor does my wife.
I'm just a fan of vintage machines and this forum is about the best at that.

And whether you quilt or not, you are most welcome on this board as a collector and user of fine vintage machines. Glad you are with us and will continue to share your pictures and stories about your machines.

I don’t quilt much either. My wife is the quilter. I’ve handcranked quilt blocks at nearly every quilt or craft show that we’ve been vendors at, but most of my sewing is repairs, mending, and fabrication. Most of my fabrication has been with canvas or vinyl fabrics. I designed a nylon windsock and made some on a treadle machine at one county fair. My sewing “thing” right now is repurposing used billboard vinyl into outdoor equipment covers on a variety of industrial sewing machines that I have.
Although I took a break from the Quilting Board this summer, nobody told me to leave and I haven’t felt unwanted here. I hope to start more threads about industrial machines as time goes on.
