Default On the Cutting Edge According to Martha Stewart

Martha Steward wrote for the Smithsonian - "Now sewing is back in vogue, which gives me great pleasure. I often give basic Singer sewing machines to kids for their birthdays, bar and bat mitzvahs and other celebrations. I believe a sewing machine is as indispensable today as a personal computer or smartphone."

How does she propose to get around the afront to feminism that is teaching sewing in school?

(He said with heavy sarcasm in his voice)

    Hmmm read further...
I love the feel of the advancing fabric and the hum of the engine.

Her sewing machine has an engine?

Ha ha. I saw someone else write that just yesterday. Motor is another word for engine to a lot of people, same as a chair is a seat (as in the "chair" in your car). A couple of those amusing ways people get it wrong

Are you thinking she doesn't know what she's talking of? Damn, I thought I was sitting on a fortune in sewing machines when the trend comes to "vogue."

True - but one seldom refers to having an engine in their blender or vacuum cleaner
    But then Martha is special.

Boys and girls will take the class. She gives machines to boys and girls (or so she says).

Sorry but I'm not a fan of hers. I do not consider quilting "sewing" nor do I consider it being in vogue. I have been quilting for many years and consider it an art form and something I love to do...
Just like so many on this board I give sewing machines to my children and grand children, nothing new in that either.
Martha is basically a salesman who sells her name to products just like so many more celebrities do.

Maybe shes talking about the sewing of clothes, as well as quilts, because of our economy.
