I passed on a custom painted Featherweight on eBay yesterday. The flowers were hand painted. I spoke to the seller. I have to say I was sorely tempted; I don't have a featherweight and I've never even seen one. Oh well...

I've seen prices for painting online starting at $659!

Has she inquired at an auto body shop about painting her machine? It would then be a good paint with nice finish.

I suggested that to my friend as well but she wants someone to do it that would take it all apart and clean everything up /make repairs as needed. Basically, she wants a full service job.

I guess I'm now in on the FW 221 craze. I didn't even know about them until a couple of weeks ago. I've been watching on ebay but prices are going higher as the craze continues. I've seen 2 original 1930's models go for over $800, not even restored. This one is amazing! I'd love to have one like it but I wouldn't have the heart to sew on it. I'd be just sick when it got it's first scratch. I have been looking at the painted ones. Looks like it's cheaper to just order one of theirs rather than try to find one and send it to be completely restored and painted. I can't decide on a color. Mulsanne blue (1970's corvette color???) Decisioins! Decisions! They're all beautiful!

    Hi Brenda, $800.00 is insane.
Keep your eyes open- Craig's list, yard and estate sales, Ebay (I know you've been there but I got mine on Ebay for 200 and in great shape).
Also tell your quilty friends you are interested in buying one.
There is one out there with your name on it, trust me!
