Default Does anyone know of a FW painter?

Hi, all. It's been quite a while since I came to visit but I have a friend that is looking for someone that does the painting of featherweights. I'm sure you all have seen the pictures of red and purple and other colors painted on the FWs. I personally would never do that but I told my friend I'd ask here.

She did have a person in mind that took the machines apart and cleaned them up and then did the painting. But, he is no longer doing it. So, if anyone knows who to contact about doing this, would you please let me know?

    Thanks.

I've know people who take their Featherweights to an auto body painter. You'd want to take all of the parts off that you didn't want painted. And thoroughly mask off any internal parts you didn't want paint to get on. We had a lady bring her painted Featherweight to the shop, and some paint had gotten in the wrong spot, and we had to remove it.

I hope it's a very beaten up machine, because it's nicer to have the original conditon when possible. (I just had to say it... )

Thanks, everyone. You've given me some good ideas to pass along to my friend.

I have an old beat up featherweight. I called the sewing repair store and they wanted $200.00 just to take it apart and put it back together. Painting would have been on top of that.

Bkay, it's a bit of an investment at that price. It's something you do with the machine you like and will use. Considering the price of a new Featherweight or any new machine I guess it's worth it, but to be worth anything it has to be done meticulously.

I totally agree with you, Mickey. I wouldn't do it unless the finish was just awful. But, this friend really wants one candy apple red and she got a machine very cheap. It works well but isn't so pretty.

And, I know it's expensive to do this as well. I'm glad it's not me looking to pay what it costs. But you know how it is when you want something, you just want it.

If you are on Facebook, search for Hodie Doe...He does an AMAZING JOB and I believe his wait list is running just over a year now...................but his results are worth the wait if you want it done and done right.
