If all they have is money to buy one from Walmart or other places , let them buy it . They need to learn how to deal with different types of machines . I bought several so called cheap machines from Walmart at their Black Friday sales and taught my 5th graders (boys and girls ) how to sew in the after school program. The price was right $50.00 I bought about 7 of them and they sat two to a machine and made pajama bottoms and other things. We had a great time . I wish people would stop being machine snobs . I wanted all the machines to be alike so I bought them. Who has time to hunt down vintage machines ? Buy what you can afford . Be more encouraging not so discouraging.
