Question Dressmaker SS2402 stitch width help?

I just purchased this machine, unfortunately, the stitch width dial is not working. I have the manual but nothing in it with an exploded schematic to show how it should look. Does anyone know how it is supposed be put together? I have just a flat screw tightened into the middle of the dial. Thanks for any help you can provide. ;-)

To get it to move right, you are going to have to oil it from inside or behind - oil anything that might move. I have one that is missing the piece that does reverse - not the same model but irritating - usually if it is all there a good oil soak helps a lot - oil - give it time out - turn the machine a different direction and oil again - give it some time out and so on - some times heat helps but not if it has plastic parts

I can move the dial freely from left to right, it just will not stop at any point. It will not stop at any of the settings above the dial. It will not stay in any number position. I am sorry I was not more clear with the issue.

The little dials on either side may have to be set

Thanks so much! Manual does not give info on the stitch dial other than moving it to a number. You are so kind, thank you very much.
